How often should my pet be groomed?
Most dogs benefit from professional grooming every 4–8 weeks, depending on their breed, coat type, lifestyle, and haircut. Cats may require grooming on a different schedule.
How long will my pet's grooming appointment take?
Every pet is different! Grooming time depends on your pet's size, coat condition, haircut, temperament, and the services selected. We'll give you an estimated pickup time when you check in and will contact you when your pet is ready to go home.
What if my pet is nervous, scared, or doesn't like being groomed?
We understand that grooming can be overwhelming for some pets. Patience, safety, and comfort are our priorities. We take the time to work with each pet at their own pace and adjust our approach based on their individual needs. Please let us know about any fears, sensitivities, or previous grooming experiences when booking so we can be prepared.
What happens if my pet is matted?
Matting can be uncomfortable and can sometimes hide irritated or damaged skin. Our groomers will assess your pet's coat and discuss the safest option with you before proceeding. In some cases, shaving the matted coat is the safest and most humane option.
What should I do to prepare my pet for their grooming appointment?
We recommend giving your pet an opportunity to use the bathroom and have some exercise before their appointment. Please let us know about any medical conditions, sensitivities, allergies, behavioral concerns, or special needs your pet may have.
What vaccines do you require at The Groom Room for my dog and cat?
For the protection of all pets in our salon, we require current rabies vaccination for all eligible dogs and cats. We also strongly recommend that dogs remain current on their core vaccinations and Bordetella (kennel cough), and that cats remain current on their FVRCP vaccinations.
